Heading to the movies this week? There are quite a few good proposals now playing at Muvico Parisian 20 & IMAX in CityPlace and others coming soon this month of July that seem to become blockbuster summer hits.

Best movies still playing this month:

• Jurassic World is still on, a science fiction adventure film that debuted on June 12 and provides great entertainment for the better of two hours. The original Jurassic Park dominated the box-office in 1993 and is regarded as an iconic piece of cinema. Jurassic World won’t quite have the same impact but it’s still an engaging blockbuster that many will enjoy.

• Minions the evolving from single-celled yellow organisms at the dawn of time, deliver just enough of what people love about the eponymous Despicable Me characters to please their fanbase. Minions is almost exactly what you probably expect it to be. It’s noisy, random, very untidy, slightly crude. Those little yellow scene-stealers have become a certifiable pop culture phenomenon.

• Ant-Man This enjoyably off-the-cuff franchise starter takes a cue from its incredible shrinking protagonist. A better than average caper with some really great performances and unique style that also further expands on the breadth of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world. Ant-Man is probably the most uneven Marvel movie to date. What starts as a drizzle becomes a hurricane of action and special effects. Leading to an ending that is both spectacular and heartfelt. Marvel has another notch in its belt of brilliant comic adaptations.

• Trainwreck Amy Schumer triumphs in a crackling comedy with Bill Hader and LeBron James. It is a high-speed rail line transporting director Judd Apatow back into relevance and writer/star Amy Schumer to the top of the A-list.

Keep an eye on some other best movies to watch in July at Muvico

Vacation – R – Action/Adventure ‧ 1h 57m
The film follows grown-up son (Ed Helms) who has the perfect surprise for his wife, Debbie (Christina Applegate), and two sons: the cross-country trip of a lifetime, reminiscent of the fun-filled excursion he took as a kid. They’re going to Walley World, America’s greatest amusement park.

Remember, moviegoing is magic. You’re more likely to be affected by a film’s mojo if you see it theatrically. This is what movies are all about – escaping from reality for two hours.
