Did you know the United States is the world’s number one producer of cheese, cranking out more than 30 percent of the world’s cheese?
And did you also know that four percent of the world’s cheese is stolen each year, making cheese the number one stolen food item on Earth?
Today, there are some 1,400 varieties of cheese in the world. So, it seems to me that people just love cheese. I mean, what’s not to love? Creamy, sour, and sweet. A mix of flavors too hard to resist. My day would not have been complete on Friday, January 20—National Cheese Lover’s Day—had I not sampled some cheese from Paneterie French Bakery on 205 Clematis Street in West Palm Beach.
As a way to express their love affair with cheese in West Palm Beach, Thierry Beaud, owner of Paneterie, and his manager Marcio, offered their customers a small platter consisting of an assortment of different cheeses, with a few slices of their homemade French baguette, and a glass of rosé wine. Délicieux!
