Setting Sail into History: Recap of the Annual Sunset History Cruise

The Historical Society of Palm Beach County’s renowned Sunset History Cruise took to the waters once again last Thursday (April 25th), enchanting guests with tales of the region’s rich past. Hosted aboard the elegant Mariner III yacht, passengers were treated to a journey through time as historian Rick Rose regaled them with fascinating insights into Palm Beach’s storied history. Mr. Rose, a second-generation Floridian, was born and raised in Palm Beach. He is an active member of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County, the Flagler Museum, and the Palm Beach Preservation Foundation.

Against the backdrop of a breathtaking sunset, guests indulged in delectable cuisine, refreshing drinks, and live music, creating an ambiance of relaxation and discovery. The cruise, a beloved tradition, saw the Mariner III filled to its capacity, showcasing the enduring popularity of this iconic event.

A highlight of the evening was the screening of the latest episode of “Behind the Palms—The Evolution of Resort Wear,” which shed light on Palm Beach’s influence on fashion throughout the ages. From the emergence of resort wear to its timeless elegance, the episode captured the essence of Palm Beach’s sartorial legacy.

For those who missed the cruise, the episode of “Behind the Palms” offers a captivating glimpse into the evolution of resort wear and Palm Beach’s enduring impact on fashion.

As the sun sets on another memorable Sunset History Cruise, the Historical Society of Palm Beach County remains dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of Palm Beach County for generations to come.
