Forget about the rain. The South Florida Fair is back! It has been a long wait for many folks and finally the moment we all have been longing for is here. Get ready for the quirky and fun stuff you’ll enjoy for the better of 17 days – music, rides, exhibits, and all the thingamajigs you will find at the 2016 Fair in West Palm Beach.
On Thursday night our team visited the South Florida Fair Grounds in order to preview the attractions the public will be able to enjoy this year. County leaders, staff from Discover the Palm Beaches (which is Palm Beach County’s travel planning resource for domestic and international visitors), and other members of several local media outlets were also present to watch a brand new, multi-sensory four and a half minute film about Palm Beach County. The film was produced by Olympusat at the Olympusat Theatre of the Palm Beaches within the Fair.
This special presentation displayed powerfully impressive footage of the most beautiful places and attractions in Palm Beach County in ultra high definition 4K on a 20 by 30 foot theater style screen. This film will be featured at the Expo Center theatre to all fair goers to herald the beauty, history, culture, the environment and lifestyle of the Palm Beaches, that even long-time residents will be surprised to see. So, do not miss the “Discover The Palm Beaches — The Perfect Place” when you visit the fair this year. Actor, film producer, and voice actor Ray Liotta does the voice over, covering a great number of popular places of entertainment, tourist landmarks, and attractions in Palm Beach County. All around the South Florida Expo Center attendants to the Fair will find more information about a myriad of attractions and interact with some of the staff that make them possible.
Out of the many interesting events and activities we heard about for this year, there’s a special presentation of Tropics on Ice, produced by Royal Palm Beach-based Rosstyn Ice Shows, a company with more than 50 years of experience producing shows for theme parks, casinos, festivals, malls, fairs, dinner theaters, hotels, and theaters all over the country and worldwide.
Here is a preview of the show…

The South Florida Fair is more than burgers with cider donuts, corn dogs, pita with roast beef, deep-fried buckeyes and all those traditionally homemade delicacies – and sometimes insane combinations – you can only enjoy at a fair. The Palm Beach County South Florida Fair is made up of hundreds of individual events and is one of the first fairs in the year in the entire nation; therefore it draws a lot of attention to the county. The South Florida Fair is also a wonderful moment for entertainment but at the same time it is very educational. This year we will learn about the best of Palm Beach County to rediscover ourselves with the amazing diversity of the Palm Beaches.
Check out the South Florida Fair website to keep tabs on the extensive calendar of events for this year. We also have a feature article about all the music concerts at the fair this year. Check it out here. Starship will sing their popular hit “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” to a happy crowd on Thursday, January 28, and this was already the attitude many folks assumed as they showed up to the South Florida Fair Preview Night, even when the night dawned on a heavy downpour for most of the time.
That’s the spirit of the Palm Beaches, the perfect place to work, live and play in Florida!
